Join us for a special webinar featuring the writer, director, and key students involved in the premiere of Persistence, a new play about farmers struggling with the impacts of forever chemicals. They will discuss the creative process of bringing the script to life on campus this semester.

Persistence, written by Associate Professor of Environmental Studies Gail Carlson with alumna Charlotte Torrey ’26, is based on interviews with farmers in central Maine. The production, including more than 20 students on stage and behind the scenes, with professional set, costume, sound, and lighting design by Colby faculty and guest artists, will run in Studio 2 of the Gordon Center for Creative and Performing Arts in November 2026.

Directed by Performance, Theater, and Dance Senior Lecturer Bess Welden and presented by the Department of Performance, Theater, and Dance in collaboration with the Center for the Arts and Humanities, Colby Arts Office, and the Buck Lab, Persistence highlights the ways in which Colby faculty and students collaborate to bring science and performance together to tell stories that matter.
