Support the Senior Class Gift

The Senior Class Gift is your chance to leave a lasting mark on Colby College and ensure future students have access to the same transformative experiences you’ve had. Your support today plays a crucial role in strengthening Colby’s future. Gifts received through the Senior Class Gift provide funding for scholarships, athletics, student clubs, the arts, and many other campus programs and initiatives. Gifts may be designated to whichever area of the College matters most to you.

Our experiences and memories from Colby will stay with us for a lifetime. We can help ensure that future generations of students enjoy life-changing experiences at Colby, just like we did. Make a donation to the Senior Class Gift to help the Class of 2025 provide Colby experiences for those to come.

Give Now

The Senior Class Gift is a tradition launched in 1984 where seniors give back to the Colby Fund to support the areas of campus that have impacted them the most, from academics to athletics to student life.

  • Leave a legacy: Your contribution helps improve the Colby experience for future generations of students.
  • Class unity: We’re aiming for 80% participation—every gift, regardless of size, brings us closer to this goal and shows our collective commitment to Colby’s future.
  • Personal impact: You can direct your gift to an area of Colby that has shaped your journey, whether it’s a specific department, athletic team, or student organization.
  • Support what matters most to you: Whether it’s scholarships, campus life, academic programs, or diversity and inclusion initiatives, you choose where your gift goes.
  • Make a difference: Your donation helps sustain the resources and opportunities that make Colby special, ensuring future students can thrive.
  • Give online: Visit our GiveCampus page and make your gift in just a few minutes.
  • In-person: Look out for Senior Class Gift tabling events across campus to learn more and pledge your support.
  • At events: Participate in SCG-specific events and Senior Week activities, where you can make your contribution and celebrate with your classmates.
  • Recognition: All participants will receive a Class of 2025 pint glass and class pin during Senior Week.
  • Start your alumni journey: By giving now, you take the first step in becoming an active and engaged Colby alum.

80% class participation. Every gift counts, and we need your help to reach this milestone.

  • Plan and execute fundraising initiatives: Co-Chairs and committee members work together to organize a year-long fundraising campaign, including events such as tabling, Senior Week activities, and specific SCG events. You’ll be responsible for creating engaging opportunities for your peers to contribute to the Colby Fund.
  • Conduct peer-to-peer outreach: Committee members engage in peer-to-peer outreach, encouraging classmates to participate in the Senior Class Gift through in-person conversations, emails, and social media. This involves understanding the importance of philanthropy and communicating that value to others.
  • Coordinate events and tabling: The committee plans and manages tabling events in key locations around campus and at major senior events, including Homecoming, Senior Pub Nights, and during Senior Week check-in. Co-Chairs ensure events run smoothly and that all volunteers are equipped with the tools and knowledge to engage donors.
  • Collaborate with campus partners: Co-Chairs and members will work closely with the Senior Class Co-Presidents, the Office of College Advancement, and other campus organizations to align SCG efforts with existing senior class activities, ensuring maximum participation and visibility.
  • Track progress and celebrate success: Co-Chairs help monitor participation rates and fundraising progress, meeting regularly with the committee to adjust strategies as needed. They also plan recognition events like an Alumni Council Pub Night or an End-Of-Year celebration.
  • Leadership experience: As a Co-Chair or committee member, you will lead a team of peers, coordinate events, and drive participation in one of Colby’s most meaningful traditions. These are the kind of real-world leadership skills—project management, communication, team building—that are highly valued in post-graduate life, whether you’re heading into business, education, non-profits, or any other field.
  • Networking: You’ll collaborate closely with fellow students, Colby administrators, and alumni, helping to build connections that extend into your professional network. The relationships and experiences gained as part of the SCG Committee can open doors for mentorship, job opportunities, and professional growth after graduation.
  • Fundraising and communication skills: Working on the SCG involves engaging your peers, managing outreach, and using different communication platforms, all of which will sharpen your ability to advocate for causes, rally support, and articulate your message—skills that are transferable to any career path.
  • Event planning and execution: Organizing campus-wide events like tabling, special recognition events, and fundraising activities gives you hands-on experience in event management. You’ll learn how to plan, execute, and measure the success of various initiatives, an invaluable skill in many professional roles.
  • Philanthropy and community impact: By being a part of this initiative, you gain an understanding of the importance of philanthropy and giving back to your community. You’ll learn how to inspire others to make a difference—experience that’s crucial if you’re interested in careers in non-profits, fundraising, or corporate social responsibility.
  • Lasting legacy: Leading the SCG allows you to directly shape the impact your class will leave behind. It’s a chance to give back to the areas of Colby that have shaped your experience, ensuring future students have access to the same opportunities.
  • Resume building: Serving as a Co-Chair or on the SCG Committee is a standout experience on your resume, showing future employers that you have real leadership, teamwork, and organizational experience.
  • Confidence: The experience of guiding a class-wide initiative gives you confidence in taking on leadership roles in your post-graduate life, whether in your career or community engagement.
  • Alumni engagement: Being deeply involved in the SCG sets you up for a lifelong connection with Colby’s alumni network. You’ll already have a foot in the door for future alumni events and giving opportunities, positioning you as an engaged and active alum from the start.

Joining the Senior Class Gift Committee is more than a leadership opportunity—it’s a way to develop real-world skills, build meaningful relationships, and make a lasting impact.
