2026 Alumni Awards

The College celebrates the outstanding achievements and commitment of various members of the Colby community

Members of the Colby College community gathered June 6 in the Gordon Center for Creative and Performing Arts to celebrate the 2026 Alumni Award recipients. The annual awards recognize distinguished alumni, faculty, and community members for exceptional service to the College, professional distinction, and excellence in education.

The annual awards recognize individuals for their exceptional contributions to the College, helping us continue to strengthen our community. The 2026 honorees are:

The Blue Key Award is presented annually to young alumni who have distinguished themselves through consistent and dedicated service to Colby.

Holly Bogo ’16 accepting the Blue Key Award.

Holly Bogo ’16 currently works as a manager in Huron Consulting Group’s education consulting section in Boston, where she supports colleges and universities with enrollment management, institutional resilience, athletics, and operations management. Bogo previously worked in undergraduate admissions at Columbia University and Connecticut College, and in graduate admissions at the MIT Sloan School of Management. She double-majored in educational studies and history at Colby, where she was a four-year member and captain of the varsity tennis team, involved in COOT, and worked in Admissions.

As Colby’s assistant dean of students, Billy J. Parker ’16 oversees student engagement, outdoor education and leadership, orientation and first-year experience, and family communication. He also serves as the Posse liaison for the College and has previously volunteered as a Posse mentor and football coach. A 2016 graduate with an A.B. in mathematical sciences, Parker earned his Ed.M. from Boston University in 2020. Prior to his current role, he was the assistant secretary of the College, where he supported the Board of Trustees and senior leadership and ensured governance best practices.

Colby presents the Brick Award annually to those who have demonstrated outstanding loyalty to the College through consistent and dedicated service on its behalf.

Coy Dailey ’01 has spent more than two decades as a transformative educator and leader. After earning his degree in mathematical sciences at Colby and later an M.S.Ed. in school leadership from the University of Pennsylvania, Dailey began his career at Georgetown Day School and Packer Collegiate Institute, where he eventually served as the inaugural middle school dean of student life. A gifted cultural worker, he is renowned for integrating a social justice lens into his curriculum through innovative simulations. Following his tenure as director of diversity and equity at the Bank Street School for Children, Dailey joined the Brearley School as a senior administrator and director of equity and community engagement, where he led initiatives to foster an inclusive, antiracist community. His leadership extends to the broader educational landscape as co-chair of the NYSAIS Equitable Practices and Inclusion Committee and as a devoted trustee of Colby College.

Jason Freedman ’01 was an economics/financial markets major at Colby and played soccer. He went straight from Colby to Stanford Law School, where he met his wife, Michelle. After clerking for a judge on the Delaware Chancery Court, he started at the law firm Ropes & Gray in Boston before moving to the firm’s San Francisco office in 2010, where he has resided ever since. Freedman is recognized for his enduring commitment to Colby and his willingness to serve as a resource for the community.

Jackson ’76 and Susan Parker ’76 accepting the Brick Award.

Having dated throughout high school and their four years at Colby, Jackson ’76 and Susan Parker ’76 married just two weeks after graduation, beginning a partnership that has now spanned 50 years. Their enduring connection to the College is a cornerstone of their shared history, beginning on Mayflower Hill half a century ago. Since graduation, the Parkers have been stalwart supporters of Colby, establishing a multigenerational legacy that sees three of their four children, Abbie Parker Petz ’01, Jackson Parker Jr. ’07, and Gardiner Parker ’09, following in their footsteps as Colby graduates. Their deep roots in Maine have allowed them to remain actively engaged with the College, offering their time and support across the decades.

Robert Weinstein ’76 earned his Colby degree in American studies, music, and English, and during his time at the College, he headed numerous singing groups and served on the American Bicentennial Commission and the commission that developed Colby’s independent major. His professional career spans more than 40 years in educational and informational publishing, including coauthoring The Kids’ College Almanac, and in the not-for-profit field, where he headed national education programs on teen pregnancy. Weinstein has been actively engaged in the arts in central New Jersey for more than 30 years, cofounding a community theater and a cabaret group, and continues to perform while serving as an evaluator for the Basie Awards and NJ Poetry Out Loud. A dedicated volunteer, he was an award-winning class agent from 1986 to 1991 and served as class correspondent for 20 years.

The Charles W. Bassett Faculty Award recognizes a faculty member whose service to alumni programs, through active participation in regional and on-campus events, is extraordinary.

Tariq Ahmad earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in India before moving to the United States to complete his doctorate at the University of Notre Dame, focusing on retinal physiology and degeneration. He undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at the Gladstone Institutes at the University of California, San Francisco, where he researched human neurodegenerative disorders. Ahmad joined Colby’s Biology Department in 2009, was awarded tenure and associate professorship in 2016, and was promoted to full professor and named the Charles C. and Pamela W. Leighton Research Fellow in 2023.

The Distinguished Alumna/us Award recognizes alumni for outstanding professional achievement, leadership, and service that reflect the spirit of the College.

Zack Kahn ’01 accepting the Distinguished Alumna/us Award.

Zecharia “Zack” Kahn ’01 currently serves as chief information officer for the Smithsonian Institution, leading strategic technology and data initiatives to support the Smithsonian’s mission. This appointment follows a distinguished 14-year career at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), where he served as acting CIO, managing global IT operations across 100 international missions and leading the agency to its first “A” grade for federal IT management. Kahn is a recognized leader in digital modernization, integrating emerging technologies such as generative AI and satellite-based emergency connectivity to support mission-driven work globally. After graduating from Colby, Kahn earned an M.A. in international relations from Johns Hopkins University.

Reagan Carey ’01 accepting the Distinguished Alumna/us Award.

Reagan Carey ’01 has more than 20 years of experience working in the sports industry. In 2020, she launched Caementum Consulting, LLC to leverage her expertise, and in June 2023, she was an instrumental driver in the historic launch of the Professional Women’s Ice Hockey League, where she served as a special advisor. Prior to this, Carey was commissioner of the Premier Hockey Federation, where she oversaw expansion, a record schedule, and a significant salary-cap increase. From 2010 to 2018, she served as USA Hockey’s director of women’s ice hockey and general manager of the U.S. National Women’s Team, helping achieve unprecedented success, including Olympic gold in 2018. At Colby, she was a two-sport athlete and captain of the ice hockey and volleyball teams, later receiving the Carl Nelson Sports Achievement Award in 2010 and being inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.

The Ernest C. Marriner Distinguished Service Award recognizes members of the Colby community for exceptional commitment to the College, demonstrated by lifelong dedication to Colby and its goals.

Jennifer Frutchy Ford ’76 has served as an alumni interviewer and class agent for decades. After Colby, she established the art program at Burke Mountain Academy, where she taught multiple subjects and directed student activities. After earning a master’s in education from Harvard, she worked for the Cleveland Foundation and Standard Oil of Ohio’s corporate giving program. From 1986 to 2013, Ford was assistant vice president for Progressive Corporation, serving as chief advisor to CEO Peter B. Lewis on philanthropic matters, press relations, and special projects related to art and architecture. Her volunteer activities include chairing advisory committees for the List Center for the Visual Arts at MIT and the deCordova Museum. An avid athlete, she recently competed at the 2025 Head of the Charles.

The Edson V. Mitchell ’75 Distinguished Service Award is presented to a Colby alum within 25 years of graduation for extraordinary service to the College, demonstrated by sustained dedication to and leadership in support of Colby and the achievement of its mission and goals.

Amy Cronin Davis ’06 has a deep connection to Colby, rooted in family tradition. She has served as her class gift chair since 2010, was honored with a Blue Key Award in 2016, and recently completed a six-year tenure on the Alumni Council, including three years on the Executive Committee. Davis also served for two years as chair of the Alumni Trustee Selection Committee and, most recently, as Colby’s 1813 Chair, championing alumni support for Colby’s mission. Professionally, she began in banking before moving into higher education development. Today, she is deeply involved at home in Newton, Mass., and remains active within her local and Colby communities.

The Outstanding Educator Award recognizes alumni who have made exceptional contributions to the field of education.

Amy Bonnefond Smucker ’01 accepting the Outstanding Educator Award.

Amy Bonnefond Smucker ’01 has dedicated the last 25 years to education. As head of school at Proctor Academy, she leads one of the country’s most innovative and complex independent boarding schools, championing integrated academic support, experiential learning, environmental stewardship, and student well-being. Prior to Proctor, Smucker served as assistant head of school for external affairs at Berwick Academy and began her career at Kents Hill School in various roles, eventually becoming director of admissions. Holding a bachelor of arts degree in American studies from Colby and a master’s degree in nonprofit management from Northeastern University, Smucker is committed to education, educators, and the lasting impact they have on young people and their families.
