Island Campus Trips

Please join us on Colby’s Island Campus for our 2024 trip series.

We are presenting a series of single and multi-day trips this year. Mark your calendars with these dates and  register now!

Saturday, June 1, 7 a.m.–6 p.m. Catch the tail-end of the spring shorebirds migration as we walk the shorelines and island trails; bring your binoculars, cameras, and hiking boots. Lunch will be provided. Motorcoach transportation available from Waterville with multiple pick-ups along the route. Register here.

Friday, June 7, 7 a.m.–4 p.m. During Reunion Weekend, join us for an excursion to the Island Campus, including staff-led walking tours. Bring your camera and your hiking boots. Sunday, June 9, 7 a.m.–4 p.m. During Reunion Weekend, join us for an excursion to the Island Campus, including staff-led walking tours. Bring your camera and your hiking boots. Sunday, July 28, 7 a.m.–6 p.m. The puffins are calling! Join us for some free time on Allen Island for exploration or a hike, and then a boat tour around Eastern Egg Rock to view the puffins. Lunch will be provided. Motorcoach transportation available from Waterville with multiple pick-ups along the route. Register here.

Sunday, August 25, 7 a.m.–6 p.m. Join us for the first annual Island-Teering Challenge! You’ll be challenged to some orienteering and puzzle-solving as you explore Allen Island’s meadows and forests. Work individually or as a two-person team. Lunch will be provided. Motorcoach transportation available from Waterville with multiple pick-ups along the route. Register here.

Saturday, September 7, 7 a.m.–6 p.m. It’s BioBlitz Day! Join us as we scour Allen Island for pollinator plants and insects and capture the data using iNaturalist. Data collected as part of this BioBlitz will be provided to scientists who are conducting research on the island. Lunch will be provided. Friday, September 20, 7 a.m.–4 p.m. During Homecoming weekend, join us for an excursion to the Island Campus. We’ll learn more about Allen Island’s working dock and how the fishing and lobstering communities, Allen Island staff, and others utilize these docks. You’ll have some free time for walks as well. Lunch will be provided. Motorcoach transportation available from Waterville with multiple pick-ups along the route. Register here.

Saturday, October 5, 7 a.m.–6 p.m. Join us on Allen Island for the final trip of the year as we conduct another Island Campus clean-up along the trails and coastlines.
