Roosevelt ’89 and Thakor ’99 Nominated to Board of Trustees
Catherine Roosevelt ’89 and Sunil Thakor ’99 have been nominated to join Colby’s Board of Trustees for three-year terms beginning in May. Both have served in various volunteer capacities as alumni.
Roosevelt, of Seattle, Wash., is executive vice president at the Collins Group, a Seattle-based fundraising consulting firm, where she takes the lead on developing emerging consultants, fostering the collaboration and team approach for which Collins is well known. With more than 20 years experience in the nonprofit sector, she has helped more than 80 organizations raise more then $400 million. She has served on the boards of Braided River, the Arboretum Foundation, and the Southeast Seattle Senior Foundation. Roosevelt previously served as a Colby Overseer and was a member of the Alumni Council for six years. She earned a master’s of public administration in nonprofit management at the University of Washington.
Thakor, of McLean, Va., is managing director and senior portfolio manager at Sands Capital Management. He co-manages Sands Capital's Global Growth equity strategy, which launched in 2009 and today has approximately $14 billion in assets under management for a variety of corporate, nonprofit, sovereign, and other institutional clients. Thakor has volunteered for Colby as the co-chair of gifts for his class along with his wife, Kristin Fairman Thakor ’99, and as a Colby Overseer. He earned an M.B.A. from Columbia in 2006 and is chartered as a Certified Financial Analyst. The Thakors have two young children.
